The one thing that does need to be taken into consideration when choosing solid hardwood is the effect that humidity will have on the wood because
it contracts and expands with changes to relative humidity. A professional hardwood installer will compensate for this movement by incorporating an expansion gap between the wall and floor. A quarter round or basemolding will
cover this gap. Solid hardwood is installed using nails or staples only.
