Polyurethane floors and safety

My wife is pregnant, is a polyurethane floor safe?

Asked:

People should not be exposed to uncured polyurethane floors, especially pregnant women and children. Polyurethane contains isocyanates, which are respitory toxins. When the floor is uncured they will be potential for exposure. Curing is simply the time in which the oil hardens and dries. You should consult the manufacturer's advice for your climate to determine how long you should avoid exposure, could be days or weeks.

Fortunately there are other options that are natural and safe, they may have drawbacks in terms of drying in a darker or different color, however these vary based on the type of product.
