Hardwood flooring environmental impact

Is hardwood flooring bad for the environment?

Asked:

Did you know that according to the USDA Forest Service, for each cubic Feet of hardwood harvested, there is 1 2/3 cubic feet of hardwood planted. This means that the amount of total hardwood available in the United States has increases over 90% since the 1950's. Hardwood is renewable and requires less raw material and natural resources than other options.

And because hardwood flooring can last for a long time, decades as opposed to years, there is less waste from used floors compared to options such as carpet.
